Acobur was founded in 1998 as a consultancy specialized in public procurement for the healthcare industry.
In 2022, it took the natural next step: turning that expertise into the first SaaS platform for commercial intelligence in the sector across Spain and Portugal.
Origin
Since 1998, Acobur has worked alongside laboratories, manufacturers, and distributors in their relationship with the public healthcare system. The consultancy was built around a specific competency: interpreting tender documents, anticipating awards, and turning public procurement into a stable commercial channel.
Over this time, the team developed internal databases, alert systems, and a proprietary healthcare classification framework. These tools, originally designed for internal use, laid the technical foundation for what is now WeTender.
2022: from consultancy to product
The digitalization of the sector and the sustained growth of public healthcare procurement made an opportunity clear: the knowledge accumulated by Acobur could scale beyond the boundaries of a consulting service.
WeTender launched in 2022 as a proprietary platform, designed by the same team that had spent two decades managing tenders in the sector. Every product decision, from the classification system by active ingredient and healthcare product family to the mechanisms for detecting exclusion risks, is grounded in real cases managed by Acobur’s consultants.
